Healthcare Professionals Urged To Blend Leadership With Entrepreneurship

In an era where Nigeria’s healthcare sector battles persistent funding gaps, brain drain, and weak leadership structures, a growing number of young professionals are turning to entrepreneurship and mentorship to change the narrative.

One of such efforts is D’BusinessDoctor Mentorship Academy, Nigeria’s first Health and Medical Business Academy, which has announced its 2025 Cohort 2.0 Induction and Entrepreneurship Seminar, an online forum designed to help emerging healthcare leaders bridge the gap between medical practice, business acumen, and sustainable innovation.

Holding on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, with the theme “The Nexus of Leadership and Entrepreneurship in Healthcare Transformation,” the seminar will feature seasoned experts drawn from medicine, academia, and business management.

Vice Chancellor of MIVA Open University, Prof. Tayo Arulogun, will deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for discussions around how visionary leadership and entrepreneurial thinking can drive the transformation of Nigeria’s healthcare system. Other notable speakers include the Group Managing Director of St. Ives Specialist Hospital, Dr. Babatunde Okewale; First Vice President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu; and Chief Medical Director of UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Dr. Michael Gbala.

The session will be moderated by Dr. Ademolu Owoyele, widely known as D’BusinessDoctor, who also serves as CEO of Harley & Wall Business and Healthcare Consulting.

According to him, the initiative was born out of a need to help healthcare professionals “see beyond the hospital walls” and build sustainable ventures that solve real health and business problems.

“We want to raise healthcare professionals who can think like innovators, lead like entrepreneurs, and act like nation-builders,”, he said.

Owoyele said ahead of the event. The mentorship academy also features a lineup of business and healthcare mentors,
including Mr. Biodun Oke, CEO of Alpha Morgan Capital Managers; Mrs. Ayodeji Bello, Principal Consultant of Harley and Wall Consulting; Dr. Austin Okogun, CEO of Lily Group of Hospitals; and Stella Maris Iwuajoku, a Healthcare Administrator and HR Professional.

The one-hour virtual session is open to both aspiring and practicing professionals across healthcare and business sectors.

Owoyele and his team, the goal is simple but ambitious, to build a generation of healthcare leaders who are not just saving lives but also shaping systems, creating jobs, and redefining what it means to lead in Nigeria’s health sector.
