Indigenous radio station, Wazobia FM has partnered with Ajeromi Ifelodun (AJIF) Local Government Area to commemorate World Health Day 2025.

While the global community celebrates this event on September 29th each year, Wazobia in partnership with AJIF are embarking on an awareness walk today, September 27th, 2025, to sensitise the public on the need to prioritise heart care by engaging in simple exercises which can improve blood circulation and heart well being.

Speaking on the collaboration in a press briefing yesterday, the Programmes Manager Wazobia FM, Mr. Uche Nwaneri, thanked the council Chairman, Hon. Olamilekan Olu Akindipe, for his support in making the event a reality while speaking on the inspiration which birthed the event.

“As an organisation, this year alone, if we have not raised money to support members of the public affected by heart challenges, we have raised about 40 to 45 million. So, we thought that since prevention is better than cure, let this be an initiative of ours where people get to care for their heart.

“When the World Heart Day came close, we sought out a neighbourhood that has a majority of our fans domiciled. Ajeromi Ifelodun came to mind. The Chairman, Hon. Olamilekan Olu Akindipe, welcomed us and offered us his full support. We thank you very much and are grateful as a station. He offered us the field for the sensitization exercise in less than five minutes and offered us security for the event,” he shared.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, AJIF council, Hon. Akindipe thanked the station for choosing AJIF of all the 20 LGAs in the state to host the event.

Akindipe, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Oguns Semasa, stated that the project aligned with the Chairman’s vision to build a close knitted community bonded by a shared commitment to progress, wellness and prosperity.

He said, “As a Council, we understand the importance of the people, life and caring for one another that is why when the proposal for this programme came, we did not hesitate to support it. We thank Wazobia FM for partnering with us out of all the 20 local governments areas in Lagos.”

Giving a line up of the event, Nwaneri explained that the walk will start at the local government council and end at Maracana Stadium with key public figures joining in the exercise. He called for members of the public to join the exercise while warning that children, expectant mothers and people with proven negative health conditions should not participate.
