Kano, Bauchi Seek Collaboration on Farming Investment, Others

The Kano State and Bauchi State governments embarked on collaborative efforts to strengthen their economic ties in agriculture, investment, and tourism, aiming to enhance self-reliance and drive growth in both states.
Speaking in Kano, the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government (SSG), Aminu Hammayo, expressed readiness of the state government to receive and support investors from the farming sector, natural resources sector and tourism.
“We are here in Kano to showcase the potentials of our state that could be harnessed for economic development. These include among various others, the enhancement of farming, we have a lot of natural resources and we also have a big stake in tourism and wildlife.
“These are the areas we are showcasing to invite investors. We have conducted researches and have discovered our compatible advantages, priority sectors as mentioned earlier.
“In the farming sector, we have things like sesame and rice, these are some of the things we intend to showcase during the oncoming Investment Summit of 2025 next month.
“We intend to use that opportunity to interact with investors and for those who are ready at that time we will sign agreements.
Speaking on behalf of the Kano State government, Commissioner for Commerce, Investment and Industry, Wada Sagagi, expressed the need for collaboration between the two states in all the sectors.
He reiterated the need for cooperation instead of unnecessary competition between the states, saying “competition should not distract us from synergetic cooperation.”
He added that Kano State through the Dawanau International Market provides 70 per cent of grains export from Nigeria, saying “we have a lot in common between the two states and we can help grow our economy together,” Sagagi stated.
