CWC: Abia Govt, KCHAqua Consortium and Aba Drug Dealers Parley• Breakthrough meeting paves way for CWC Project

A significant meeting was held Wednesday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital between the Abia State Government, KCHAqua Consortium, a construction, infrastructure and property development firm, and the Aba Drug Dealers Stakeholders Association to facilitate collaboration on the Coordinated Wholesale Centre (CWC) project.


The meeting, attended by government officials, KCHAqua Consortium representatives, and leaders of the Aba Drug Dealers Stakeholders Association of EKUMI; ARIARIA Zone A, B and C, HENKEN PLAZA ; NAPMED Tenant Road Branch; Eziukwu Road and Ngwa Road, aimed to promote mutual trust and cooperation among stakeholders.


In his introductory remarks at the meeting, Chief Nwaka Inem, Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade, Commerce and Industry, emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens through sustainable development initiatives and people-oriented programmes.


He used the occasion to introduce KCHAqua Consortium, the company granted Approval-in-Principle to execute the CWC project, even as he admonished drug dealers to wary of imposters for the project.
The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Kingsley Nwokocha, in his remarks, urged the drug dealers to continue the engagement process, assuring them of government support to ensure every stakeholder is in agreement with the project’s processes before signing of MOU.


Also speaking, the director, Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Office, Mr Uchenna Nnaomah, said prior to granting AiP to KCHAqua consortium, the company satisfied the stringent and rigorous scrutiny for the project set by government


“The journey started September last year, and a number of companies applied for the project but some could not make it to the touch line. The PPP office scrutinized them diligently, and in the end, KCHAqua consortium satisfied the conditions and was granted Approval-in Priciple,’’ he said
Chief Victor Amuta, Chairman, Advisory Board of KCHAqua Consortium, commended the state government for convening the meeting and assured stakeholders of the consortium’s commitment to delivering a world-class CWC facility. He added that management of the company has graciously approved waver of fee for obtaining expression of interest form for the project.


Mr. Elvis Anoruo, Chairman/Coordinator Aba Drug Dealers Stakeholders Association, expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for providing land for the project and assured the consortium of members’ support for the project’s success.
