Jim Okolo Explores Strategic Partnership with German University on Ethical Election Management
Hon. Ambassador Jim Okolo Chimezie, National Coordinator of Nouvelle Perspective Internationale (NPI), has taken a decisive step in strengthening global standards of election observation and management. Okolo held high-level discussions with Mr. Norbert Possmann, Chancellor of Vinzenz Palloti University, aimed at forging a strategic partnership to train NPI members in ethics, morals, and leadership in electoral processes.
The meeting underscored Okolo’s commitment to ensuring that NPI observers are not only technically proficient in election monitoring but also grounded in ethical principles and moral integrity. Chancellor Possmann commended the vision of Nouvelle Perspective Internationale and highlighted the university’s expertise in leadership training, coaching, psychology and psychotherapy, Catholic theology, clinical psychology, and psychotherapeutic services. He emphasized that the institution’s academic resources and professional programs could greatly enhance the moral and ethical preparation of election observers.
Ambassador Okolo stressed that the credibility of both local and international election observation missions relies on the character, discipline, and ethical standards of the monitors. “Our mission is not just to watch elections, but to safeguard democracy itself. That requires observers who are ethically upright, morally grounded, and professionally competent,” he said.
Ambassador Jim Okolo Chimezie has earned recognition as a frontline international election observer and the driving force behind Nouvelle Perspective Internationale, a global organization accredited for both domestic and international election monitoring. Under his leadership, NPI has deployed observers across multiple countries, including Nigeria, the United States, Senegal, Gabon, and Burundi. He is also the Chairman and CEO of Jimez Petroleum Resources Limited and has been widely acknowledged for strengthening electoral credibility through diplomacy, advocacy, and field observation.
The collaboration with Vinzenz Palloti University is expected to formalize a framework for leadership and ethics training, incorporating modules in coaching, psychology, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, and Catholic theology. This initiative positions NPI at the forefront of professionalizing election observation globally, ensuring its members uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all electoral engagements.
