Osagie Delivers Communiqué as Southern Legislators Back Tinubu’s Continuity
In a powerful display of political unity and strategic foresight, Dr. Samson Osagie, former Minority Whip of the House of Representatives and current Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Edo State, took center stage at the Southern Summit of Former Federal Legislators held at the iconic June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
As Chairman of the Communiqué Committee and Coordinator of the Edo State Chapter, Dr. Osagie led the summit’s deliberations with precision and gravitas. The gathering, themed “National Unity: Bedrock of Nation Building,” brought together an impressive roster of Nigeria’s political heavyweights, including Senator Ken Nnamani, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, and Senators Victor Ndoma Egba, Adegbenga Kaka, and Lekan Mustapha.
The summit culminated in the issuance of a landmark communiqué, read by Dr. Osagie, formally endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the Southern Forum for the 2027 elections. The endorsement was grounded in Tinubu’s sweeping reforms, which have re-engineered Nigeria’s economy, strengthened the naira, and laid the foundation for inclusive governance and national recovery.
Speakers at the summit, including Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, praised Tinubu’s courage in tackling long-standing issues such as inflated subsidy claims, tax injustice, and educational inequality. Initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), regional development commissions, and electricity deregulation were cited as transformative steps toward equity and prosperity.
Dr. Osagie’s delivery of the communiqué was more than ceremonial—it was a clarion call for unity, continuity, and reform. The document affirmed the South’s right to complete its presidential tenure and pledged support for the North in 2031, reinforcing a spirit of rotational leadership and national cohesion.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, host of the summit, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that nation-building is a shared responsibility that transcends regional and partisan lines. He urged citizens and leaders alike to rally behind President Tinubu’s vision for a united, secure, and economically vibrant Nigeria.
With this decisive moment, Dr. Samson Osagie not only reaffirmed his role as a bridge-builder in Nigerian politics but also helped crystallize the collective voice of Southern legislators into a resounding endorsement for continuity, equity, and national progress.
