From Hackathon to Headlines: Emerging Data Stars Shine at TDI Summit

LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Data Immersed Tech Summit, themed “The Next Digital Revolution,” gathered over 500 innovators, thought leaders, and tech enthusiasts at the Solutions Arena, Lagos, for a day dedicated to reimagining the future of digital transformation in Nigeria.

The summit featured thought-provoking conversations, groundbreaking ideas, and powerful insights into the immense potential of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.

The event hosted a dynamic lineup of speakers, including David Brown (CEO, Brown Consulting), Senior Data Developer Samuel Iheagwam, Growth Marketer Deborah Adeniran, Alex Onyia (CEO, Educare), Judith Okechukwu (CEO, Traders Corner), Tina Okonkwo (Technical Community Manager, Jadasquad), Blessing Sunday (Founder, Bus Public Speaking Academy), and master of ceremonies Chisom Edeh. Each speaker shed light on the skills, innovations, and structures required to propel Nigeria’s digital future.

A highlight of the summit came with the celebration of winners from the Data Analysis Hackathon. Mr. Chima Stanley Anywanwu of Owllup personally donated ₦1,000,000 for the first prize, ₦750,000 for the second, and ₦500,000 for the third. His contribution not only recognized excellence but also empowered young data professionals with resources to advance their careers and innovation.

Speaking on the vision behind the summit, Nnamani Daberechi Anne, founder of the Data Immersed Tech Summit, said:
“Our vision has always been to create a platform where global talents can shine, learn, and connect with opportunities. What we are building here is not just about tech skills; it’s about changing lives and shaping the future of innovation in Africa.”

Beyond the discussions and competitions, the summit spotlighted a pressing issue: the ongoing brain drain in Nigeria’s tech industry. Despite their critical contributions, many data analysts and developers still earn far below their value. Initiatives like the Data Immersed Tech Summit—where leaders invest in and uplift emerging talent—are seen as vital steps toward creating an environment where Nigerian professionals can thrive locally instead of seeking opportunities abroad.

In the end, the gathering proved to be more than just a summit. It was a movement—a reminder that with the right support, Nigeria’s digital revolution will be driven by homegrown talent ready to shape the continent’s future.
