New Era Dawns for NIESV Lagos as Tosin Kadiri Takes the Helm

The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Lagos State Branch, has welcomed Tosin Kadiri as its 29th Chairman.
The investiture ceremony, held on August 6, 2025, at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos, marked the beginning of a fresh chapter for the institution. Esteemed guests attended the event to witness Kadiri’s assumption of leadership.
 
Mr. Gbenga Ismail, the outgoing Chairman’s tenure that was commended for its remarkable achievements, despite facing numerous challenges. The new Chairman was welcomed on board and encouraged to build on the successes of his predecessors.
Kadiri’s appointment has been met with enthusiasm and support from stakeholders, who commend his track record and leadership qualities.
 
Mallam Bature Ali Muhammad, First Vice President of NIESV, expressed his pleasure and honour in attending the occasion. He praised the outgoing Chairman and the Executive Committee for their leadership, stating, “I am particularly thankful to the outgoing Chairman and the Prime Members of the Executive Committee for the manner in which you have piloted the affairs of the branch in the past few years. That you have led this branch despite the many crises is a testament to your youth and mature leadership.” 
 
He commended the branch’s contributions to the institution’s growth and development, noting, “I think it is perfectly in order to also use this occasion to commend your branch, its role in the commission of our great institution, and the numerous contributions it has made to its growth and development.”
 
The First Vice President reassured the branch of the administration’s commitment to their promises, emphasising, “We have made remarkable achievements as we have diligently implemented the final programmes of this administration. I stand before you this day reassuring you of our unwavering commitment to the promise.”
He stressed the importance of collective effort, saying, “Every one of us here has a responsibility to ensure that these sacrifices will not be in vain, while also ensuring that we leave an institution for the upcoming generation to take it to a better place.”
 
Muhammad congratulated Kadiri on his appointment, wishing him a successful tenure. “To the incoming Chairman and your team, I congratulate you and welcome you on board again. Responsibility has motivated me to collaborate with the Council and the leadership of the institution in taking the institution to a better level. I wish you a very successful tenure. Your labour too for the institution, for the attainment of objectives and goals, especially in this elective time, will not go unrewarded.”
 
He concluded by urging members to work together, stating, “Bear in mind that at the end of the day, we are still members of the same professional family, seeking and pursuing the same goals and objectives.”
 
Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Lands Bureau, Mr. Kamar Olowoshago, praised the institution, saying, “This great institution has been a great honour. I have been attending the programmes of the institute since I became the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Lands Bureau.”
He also acknowledged the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Gbenga Ismail, as a good friend, stating, “He is someone that will always come around, knock on my door, and I don’t even know whether he has the keys because the door is always open for me.”
 
Olowoshago assured Kadiri of the Lands Bureau’s continued support, saying, “I’m going to assure the new chairman, Tosin Kadiri, that he can take the keys away from Ismail and our door is open for you too. We’ve got a lot of your members in the Lands Bureau, and the support we’ve given to the past administration is what I want to assure you we’ll give to you. I will always support you.”
 
The Permanent Secretary assured the new Chairman of his support and collaboration, emphasising the importance of teamwork in achieving the branch’s goals.
 
In his acceptance speech, Kadiri expressed gratitude to God, his family, and members of the branch for entrusting him with the leadership role. He said, “I stand before you today deeply humbled and profoundly honored to accept the responsibility entrusted to me as the twenty-ninth chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Lagos State Branch.”
 
Kadiri acknowledged the tireless efforts of past chairmen, expressing his heartfelt appreciation for their selfless service and commitment to advancing the standard of the profession. He also appreciated the presence of national executives, industry leaders, and distinguished guests, noting that their presence is a testament to their support for the noble profession.
 
The new chairman emphasised the importance of the real estate sector in driving economic growth and social stability. He stated, “Our profession and mandates remain one of the most pivotal drivers of economic growth and social stability in our nation. As estate surveyors and valuers, our work directly impacts life, from providing shelter to facilitating commerce, and from advising governments and investors to shaping sustainable urban growth.”
 
Kadiri’s vision for his tenure focuses on six key pillars: enhancing membership engagement, promoting professional development, fostering collaboration and partnership, advocating for membership interests, enhancing welfare, and promoting youth development. He emphasized the need for collective responsibility, stating, “We cannot achieve this aspiration alone. I humbly seek the collaboration of every member of this branch and stakeholders for a collective responsibility.”
 
He called for unity and teamwork, appealing to members to shun rivalry and keep the interest of the profession above individual ambition.
Kadiri expressed confidence in the branch’s collective strength, saying, “With your support, I am convinced we can turn challenges into opportunities and deliver transformation results.”
 
The investiture ceremony marked a new chapter in the history of the NIESV Lagos Branch, with Kadiri at the helm. The branch’s future looks bright, with the new Chairman and his team poised to take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
 
The new Chairman is expected to lead the branch with dedication and commitment to the profession.
