Sen Adeola Backs Elegbeji for Reps
Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations and Ogun State Caucus of the National Assembly chairman, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (aka Yayi), has formally thrown his weight behind the candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Princess Adesola Elegbeji, for Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency in the bye-election coming up on Saturday.
Senator Adeola, who gave this endorsement in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, also described Princess Elegbeji as the right choice at the right time.
Popularly known as Yayi, Senator Adeola attested to the credentials of Princess Elegbeji whom he called an apostle of the progressive doctrines of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and a true scion of Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency whose political philosophy is rooted in service, equity, and enlightenment.
“Princess Sola Elegbeji is not just a candidate but a continuation of a legacy who has subscribed fully to the tenets of the Renewed Hope Agenda as championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun,” Senator Adeola said.
Adeola, who is also Ogun West senator, said the emergence of Princess Elegbeji as the APC candidate is a convergence of history, competence and vision, emphasising that her long-standing relationship with the late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (aka Ijaya), whose passing left the Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives vacant, was not merely political, but deeply collaborative.
“They shared a bond of purpose and Princess Elegbeji was a quiet force behind many of the constituency initiatives we now celebrate while her pledge to expand the Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Youth Skills Empowerment Programme is not a campaign promise but a personal mission,” Senator Adeola also said.
According to the Senator, the Ogun State Caucus of the National Assembly has noted that Elegbeji’s candidacy enjoys the full backing of the party’s leadership, in addition to the strategic support of the Presidency and the confidence of the Ogun State government.
“She is trusted by the party, respected by the people and prepared for the task ahead. Her understanding of federal legislative dynamics, grassroots appeal and her unwavering loyalty to progressive ideals make her the ideal representative for Remoland at this time,” Senator Adeola concluded.
Meanwhile, party stakeholders have commended Senator Adeola’s endorsement of Princess Elegbeji as a unifying moment, describing her as a bridge between the legacy of Awolowo, the transformative energy of Tinubu, and the developmental vision of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election is scheduled for this weekend, with APC leaders expressing confidence that Elegbeji’s candidacy will deliver a decisive victory and usher in a new era of responsive, progressive representation.
