EFCC: Tambuwal’s Supporters Go Spiritual, as Clerics Offer Prayers For Him

Aminu Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State, has received an outpouring of support from his loyalists following his recent arrest and release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a show of solidarity, over 500 Islamic clerics gathered at his residence on Kontagora Road, Sokoto, to offer prayers for his vindication.
The prayer session, which was convened by Mallam Sanusi Danbature, brought together Islamic scholars and clerics from across the state.
The gathering was a testament to Tambuwal’s enduring popularity and influence in Sokoto State, where he served as Governor from 2015 to 2023.
During the prayer session, the clerics prayed for Allah’s guidance and protection for Tambuwal, who they believe has been unfairly targeted by the EFCC.
They also prayed for the anti-graft agency to conduct a thorough and fair investigation, urging them to avoid being swayed by political considerations.
In an address to journalists after the prayer session, Mallam Danbature expressed confidence that Tambuwal would be cleared of any wrongdoing.
He urged the EFCC to be fair and impartial in its investigation, emphasizing that Tambuwal’s integrity and leadership were beyond reproach.
“Tambuwal governed Sokoto State with the fear of Allah in his heart,” Danbature said. “His tenure was marked by significant infrastructural development, and he remains a beloved figure in our state.
“We urge the EFCC to conduct a thorough investigation, and we are confident that Tambuwal will be vindicated.”
The prayer session was attended by a cross-section of Sokoto State’s political and religious leaders, who all expressed their support for Tambuwal.
The event was seen as a demonstration of the strong bonds of loyalty and solidarity that exist between Tambuwal and his supporters.
As the investigation into Tambuwal’s administration continues, his supporters remain optimistic that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
In a response to the gesture, the Peoples Democratic Party Chairman in the State Alhaji Bello Aliyu Goronyo, expressed gratitude to the clerics and supporters who gathered to pray for their leader.
