Abia Lawmaker Lauds Tinubu for Increased FAAC Allocation to States

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been lauded for initiating a robust fiscal policy which has made it possible for state governments to receive more money from federal allocation.

A member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi, made the commendation in a chat with journalists shortly after he was received into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia.

He said that it was a good development that governors now have more funds to carry out developmental projects and provide social services for the people without much stress.

Hon. Ndubuisi, who represents Bende South state constituency was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but has defected to APC, saying that he was attracted to the ruling party due to Tinubu’s bold economic policies.

His dumping of PDP brings to six the number of Abia state lawmakers elected on the party’s platform that have left for other parties. The PDP had a majority of 11 members at the inception of the eighth Abia House but it has lost the lawmakers representing Isuikwuato, Ugwunagbo, Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, and Bende South.

Ndubuisi told journalists that Tinubu has done so much to unclog the economy thereby opening the gate for more funds to be flowing into the coffers of state governments to spur developments.

“The good works of President Tinubu attracted me to APC. His fiscal policy has made a lot of funds available to the states,” he said.

Ndubuisi, who is on his second term in the Abia legislature, also stated that the leadership style of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, contributed immensely in making him join APC.

According to him, Kalu, who represents Bende federal constituency, “has done tremendously well in the House of Representatives,” adding that, “he is an outstanding legislator and leader.”

He stated that APC is a party for Bende people hence “it is natural that I’ll gravitate to APC” after dumping PDP. Bende is the only Local Government in Abia with APC Senator (Orji Uzor Kalu), House of Representatives member (Benjamin Kalu) and now a House of Assembly member.

The Bende South legislator was received by the Abia APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, Secretary, Chief Chidi Avaja and other members of the State Working Committee(SWC), after he was presented by the Vice-chairman of APC, Bende LG.

Ononogbu welcomed Ndubuisi into the Abia APC fold with a broom and urged the lawmaker to help in building the party to achieve all its goals come 2027.

He enthused that with the Bende South lawmaker now in APC, “we have completed the (party’s) circle in Bende” having already produced the Senator and the Deputy Speaker.

The party chairman challenged other Abia LGs to emulate Bende and make it all APC affair by electing the party’s candidates in the next general election.

“We have brought out quality people. If other zones can meet us halfway, the job is done for APC in Abia,” he said.
