By Ediale Kingsley
Nigerian music artist Dalyboy is having a moment. His infectious single “Omoge” recently climbed to No. 79 on the Apple Music Nigeria Top 100 chart, rubbing shoulders with some of the country’s biggest Afrobeats giants. For an independent artist, this milestone is not only exciting, it’s validating.
In an exclusive interview, Dalyboy opened up about the journey behind the song, his dreams, and the deeply personal inspiration that makes Omoge resonate with so many listeners.
“It Feels Amazing to See My Song Up There”
“Honestly, it feels amazing,” Dalyboy shared, reflecting on the song’s rise. “It’s a big deal to see Omoge up there alongside artists I admire. It reminds me that people really do connect with authentic music.”
Omoge wasn’t an overnight success. The track began climbing from position 112, slowly but steadily gaining ground. “We’re now at 79, and I want my fans to keep streaming so we can break into the Top 10,” Dalyboy said. “We’ve come a long way, and that support means everything.”
At its heart, Omoge is a love song, both playful and poetic. “It’s about the kind of love you feel for a woman that’s deep, sweet, and almost addictive,” Dalyboy explained. “I like to compare it to my love for Nigerian jollof and Ghanaian shito saucerich, spicy, and full of flavor. That’s what Omoge is. A celebration of something irresistible.”
The song’s creation was organic. “The melody came to me late at night. I wrote the lyrics on the spot,” he recalled. “In the studio, we made sure the production was smooth and soulful but still had that Afrobeats bounce.”
It wasn’t until fans began tagging Dalyboy in reels, dances, and user-generated content that he realized Omoge was catching fire. “That organic love. It’s what makes this feel so real.”
Dalyboy credits much of the song’s polish to his producer. “He really understood my vision,” Dalyboy noted. “We experimented with rhythms until it clicked. The collaboration felt effortless because we both wanted the same thing. Timeless sound with a fresh feel.”
As a newcomer to the charts, Dalyboy recognizes the importance of momentum. “Charting alongside Nigerian music legends motivates me to work even harder,” he said. “It’s encouraging, but also a call to keep evolving. Collaborating with some of those big names? That’s definitely on the vision board.”
For fans wondering what’s next, Dalyboy is far from slowing down. “Omoge’s music video has been out for a few months,” he noted. “Now, I’m working on new music. A remix might be coming soon—something with a fresh twist.”
And it doesn’t stop there. “I’m dropping two EPs next month: Obim and I’m Rich, I’m a Big Boy. They’ll show even more sides of me.”
In a sea of voices, Dalyboy stands out through storytelling. “My songs come from real places,” he said. “I blend classic Afrobeats with modern vibes, making something that feels familiar but new.”
Outside of music, Dalyboy is a grounded soul. “Family keeps me focused,” he said. “I love traveling, exploring new cultures, and cooking. Those experiences influence my art. They remind me there’s always something new to create, or taste.”
To those who’ve supported Omoge, Dalyboy had one final message: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made this possible. Keep streaming, keep vibing. This is just the beginning.”
With a chart-climbing single, a loyal fanbase, and two EPs :Obim and I’m Rich, I’m a Big Boy. Get ready—it’s about to be a vibe! More good music is on the way, and I can’t wait to share it with you.on the horizon, Dalyboy is proving that he’s not just another name in the game, he’s a voice to watch.
