Akilaah Unveils Tech Platform For Cooperative Transparency

Amadine Kouakou, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Akilaah Cooperative Limited, has unveiled a new digital platform aimed at transforming how cooperatives operate across Nigeria and beyond.
Speaking at the launch event in Abuja, Kouakou said the platform, known as Akila, is designed to bring transparency, accountability, and sustainability to grassroots cooperatives.
“Trust has disappeared and people are running away with other people’s money. The only solution is transparency — and Akila is the tool to achieve that.”
Kouakou explained that Akila is more than just a management tool; it is a complete digital system that allows cooperative members to monitor funds, track progress, and build trust within their groups.
According to her, the platform’s introduction marks a shift in the post-COVID economy, where digital solutions are essential for survival and growth.
“There is no option outside digitalisation,” she stated.
“It is the only way forward for cooperatives to stay relevant and effective.”
Kouakou highlighted that Akilaah is also offering free digital training, particularly to women in rural and urban markets, to ensure full adoption of the platform.
“If you build the technology and people don’t use it, you’ve done nothing,” she said.
“That’s why we are providing training nationwide and even beyond Nigeria’s borders.”
She also noted that Akilaah supports crowdfunding, enabling youth to pool resources and finance entrepreneurial ventures without waiting for external investors.
“We have a new generation with an entrepreneurial mindset. With technology, they can collaborate, crowdfund, and build their dreams,” she said.
Kouakou called for stronger government support, urging ministries overseeing agriculture and women’s affairs to partner with Akilaah in deploying the platform nationally.
“This is a woman-led initiative. We are not just digitalising — we are building a cooperative movement powered by data, trust, and innovation,” she concluded.
