International Women In Engineering Day: Breaks societal barriers, creates space for women to thrive at every level – Engr. Nweke

As Monday marks the commemoration of the International Women In Engineering Day (INWED) which is celebrated every June 23rd annually, Engr. Joan Nweke has called on professionals and stakeholders to build on inclusive partnerships, break geographical and societal barriers thereby creating space for women participation at every level.

Engr. Nweke who is a consultant and leadership mentor made the disclosure in a statement issued yesterday

She said ” As the world prepares to celebrates International Women in Engineering Day, I stand in proud solidarity with women engineers across Africa and beyond, whose innovation, resilience and leadership continue to shape a better future.”

Speaking on this year’s theme, “Together We Engineer,” Engr Nweke said “it is a powerful reminder that true progress in our profession is only possible when we build inclusive partnerships, break geographical and societal barriers, and create space for women to thrive at every level, from classrooms to boardrooms.

“As a woman in engineering, I know the journey is not always smooth’ but it is meaningful. Now more than ever, we must mentor in our different spaces and beyond , uplift one another, and intentionally create systems that encourage retention, growth, and leadership among women engineers.

“Let us continue to engineer not just structures, but possibilities.
Together, we engineer a future that is equitable, sustainable, and full of hope.”

The Oil and Gas Executive and Advocate for Inclusion admonished women to remain focused with zealous passion to invigorating professional activities without fear.
