The three Peoples Democratic Parties (PDP) senators from Osun, yesterday, endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Also, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the two chambers of the National Assembly, from Benue State, yesterday, endorsed Tinubu as their sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
But the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, who is a member of the PDP, was absent at the endorsement venue.
From Osun, Senators Kamarudeen Lere Oyewumi (PDP, Osun West), Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla (PDP, Osun Central), and Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (PDP, Osun East), made the declaration yesterday in a communiqué issued in Abuja.
They expressed their steadfast support for President Tinubu’s continued leadership.
“This overwhelming endorsement goes beyond mere symbolism. It is a clear reflection of genuine confidence and satisfaction with President Tinubu’s delivery of democratic dividends.
“There is no credible opposition within our ranks, the entire Osun State stands resolutely united behind this historic decision,” part of the communique read.
Excited at the development, the National Secretary of the APC, and governorship hopeful in the state, Senator Ajibola Basiru, commended the bold moves by the PDP senators.
Basiru, in a statement by his Campaign Organisation, and signed by Prof. Remi Ajala, urged the senators to extend the gesture by leaving the PDP, for the progressive camp, adding that, “They have done what the Yoruba would call Omoluabi.
“The public recognition by the PDP senators of President Tinubu’s achievements is another testimonial that Nigeria is working under our leader and moving towards the clear path of development.”
From Benue, the APC Caucus in the federal legislature also called for greater synergies between their governor, Hyacinth Alia, the relevance security agencies and the federal government, in ending the incessant insecurity in the state.
The endorsement of Tinubu came on the heels of defections, supports and top gear politicking across the country, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists at the National Assembly on behalf of his Colleague, Senator Emmanuel Udende (Benue North East) and the entire 10 House of Representatives members, Senator Titus Zam (Benue North West), said the endorsement was in appreciation of the many laudable projects and massive interventions by President Tinubu in Benue.
“Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Caucus from Benue State — comprising two Senators out of three and ten out of the 11 House of Representatives Members, have convened this press conference to formally and unequivocally endorse His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term in office.
“Our endorsement is rooted in a comprehensive assessment of President Tinubu’s transformative leadership, his unwavering commitment to national development, and the tangible achievements recorded under his administration since May 29, 2023.”
