Ganduje to Lamido: Prediction About My Defection to PDP, APC Implosion Baseless

•Says opposition party already dead

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has described the prediction by the former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido of a possible implosion of the ruling party, and his likely defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Baseless and illogical.

He, therefore, advised Lamido to focus on resolving the PDP’s internal crises instead of engaging in unfounded speculation, adding that the PDP was already. dead.

Lamido recently claimed that the APC would soon disintegrate and that those who previously left the PDP, including Ganduje, would return.

His prediction might not been unconnected with gale of defection that hit the main opposition party with some of his governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen, party chieftains leaving the umbrella party in droves.

Recently, the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori; the vice presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 election, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, members of the Delta State House of Assembly defected to APC.

However, the chairman of the ruling party, insisted that rather than him going to the PDP, the APC would soon receive Lamido into its fold.

Ganduje stated this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, adding that he had no plan joining the PDP that would go into extinction by the end of 2025 based on the internal squabbles within the party.

He maintained that there was no reason for him to leave the ruling party for what he described as a “failing opposition.”

His words: “It is evident to any discerning observer that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC continues to gain momentum, with prominent political figures across the country defecting to the party in large numbers.

“With such overwhelming national support, the APC remains focused on consolidating its achievements and preparing for a resounding victory in the 2027 general election.

“In fact we will soon receive Sule Lamido because very soon he won’t have anywhere to go, the PDP is dead.”

Ganduje reaffirmed his pride in leading the APC, and reiterated his dedication to deepening internal party democracy and promoting sustainable governance and development.
