In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2024, The Prime Environment Cleaners Network Association unveiled the women’s division of the network under the auspices of TCN WOMEN IN CLEANING through a cleaning empowerment initiative that trains women in grassroots communities on the best ways to clean spaces properly, the first edition took place on the 8th of March 2025 to celebrate the International women’s day.

Through the empowerment program, The Cleaners Network intends to position these women for housekeeping jobs that will enable them to earn a living, take care of their families, join the good fight of maintaining sustainable cleaning practices in Africa and to also become custodians of environmental sustainability.

The future of the cleaning industry is female as they make up 80% of the workforce across the world, but for too long so many of these women have not fully actualized their fullest potential in cleaning because of a lack of proper guidance, finance or the right equipments and skills, the female CEOS in the network that are the helm of the ship of the women division of the association have promised to help women in cleaning in Nigeria in best ways they can, while they progressively push forward to represent the industry and showcase to the world that women can do great things through cleaning.

During a chat with Paloma Ruth Enuwa the Director General of The Cleaners Network Women In Cleaning, she said “The goal is to empower and celebrate the women that clean, the girl child and women CEOs through our campaigns and even though we make up the majority of the workforce in cleaning most times women are sexually harassed, abused and used in our industry and no one is talking about it, so we also intend to enlighten women in cleaning about their rights sexually and also with regards to their work, you will see most women cleaners that work for up to 60 hours a week without a remuneration equal to the output given, we intent to protect them through their journey in cleaning across all areas and I am glad that our association is looking towards this direction and taking it as a serious course of actions, we are also working in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals and I look forward to having a great year filled with impact “
