Chigozie Okwara joins centre for climate-smart agriculture as research fellow

In a time when climate change threatens global food security, Africa stands at a crossroads. Rising to this challenge, Chigozie Okwara, an agribusiness visionary and the founder of AgroPlus, has been appointed as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture, Cosmopolitan University, Abuja.

A driving force behind agricultural transformation and sustainable food systems, Okwara is known for designing high-impact agribusiness models that merge profitability with sustainability. His new role at CCSA provides the perfect platform to push the boundaries of climate-smart agriculture, blending cutting-edge research with real-world execution.

“This appointment is more than just a title—it’s an opportunity to challenge the status quo and create a blueprint for Africa’s agricultural future. We are on the verge of a new era where climate resilience and agribusiness innovation will dictate the success of economies,” Okwara stated.

Through his leadership at AgroPlus, he has already begun laying the groundwork for scalable, investment-ready agricultural ventures that will define the next decade. Now, as a research fellow, his focus will sharpen on developing climate-smart solutions, strengthening value chains, and fostering strategic partnerships that will accelerate Africa’s transition toward sustainable food production.

As his work continues to gain momentum, the industry should expect bold new initiatives that will disrupt traditional agricultural models, unlock new investment frontiers, and position Africa as a global leader in climate-resilient agribusiness.

This is not just an appointment—it is the beginning of something much larger. Okwara’s vision is clear: to build a future where agriculture is not just about survival, but about growth, prosperity, and global competitiveness.
