Nigerian Rising Star Benzzy Monaco Speaks on Music, Passion, Future

In a rapidly evolving Nigerian music industry, upcoming artists continue to redefine sounds and carve unique identities for themselves. One such rising star is Emmanuel Nnagoziem Moses, popularly known by his stage name, Benzzy Monaco. In an exclusive interview, he shares his journey, inspirations, and aspirations in the world of music.
Born into a Christian home, Benzzy Monaco developed a passion for music while leading worship during family prayers. Originally from Oru West Local Government Area in Imo State, he was born in Ajegunle, Lagos, and currently resides in Sagamu, Ogun State. Growing up, he drew inspiration from some of Nigeria’s most prominent artists, including M.I, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Phyno.
Describing his music as “Afrocentric with deep messages,” Benzzy Monaco merges philosophy with rhythm, calling his style the “Philosophical Afrocentric Style of Music.” Unlike many artists who follow mainstream trends, he prides himself on standing out through truth-telling and originality in his sound.
Benzzy Monaco has already made his mark with songs like Owolabi, Onye Egwu, Find Maye, and Eri Mus, all available on major streaming platforms. While working on securing funding for music videos and seeking a record deal, he remains steadfast in his desire to own his masters, emphasizing creative independence.
A skilled songwriter since his secondary school days, Benzzy Monaco describes his process as driven by euphoria and passion, ensuring that every sound he creates is authentic and emotionally resonant. However, like many independent artists, he has faced criticism and challenges. Recalling a rap battle where his lines were dismissed as “blunt,” he now finds himself in high demand, with the same critics requesting his songwriting services.
Balancing a music career with personal relationships is no easy feat, but Benzzy Monaco believes in prioritization and dedication. His key to staying innovative is continuous learning and educating his fans through music. “A good musician discovers something new to educate their listeners on,” he says.
Focusing on the future, he dreams of collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Kizz Daniel (Vado D Great), Don Jazzy (Don Dada), Wizkid, Rema (Remy Boi), Odumodublvck (Big Kala), and UK rapper Central Cee. Despite moments of doubt, his fans’ unwavering support keeps him motivated.
With determination, talent, and a unique musical identity, Benzzy Monaco is on a promising path to becoming a household name in Nigeria’s music industry.
