Eshin Teeblinks Channels Pain, Power, and Purpose in ”The Best of Me” Album

By Emmanuel Daraloye

Released on November 8, 2024, The Best of Me is not just a debut. It is a declaration. Across 16 tracks and 52 minutes, Nigerian-born, Scotland-based artist Eshin Teeblinks delivers an emotionally charged body of work that fuses Afrobeats, rap, indigenous rhythms, and an unshakable self-belief. From start to finish, this album is about identity, survival, and the kind of hope that burns brighter after being tested.

The opening track, Eshin Lomo, introduces Teeblinks with a bold statement. Eshin lomo yen o (the boy is a horse) sets the tone for an artist unwilling to be tamed. He moves from hard-hitting Yoruba brags to social commentary, rapping, ai lowo lowo lomo fin so ‘no” (it’s the lack of money that makes a girl say ‘no’). It is a courageous opener that blends confidence with reflection.

Then comes Bounce, a rhythm-heavy track with roots in classic Yoruba highlife. It echoes the groove of Haruna Ishola’s My Dear Remix. Teeblinks’ flow here is fluid and confident. He does not just follow the beat, he commands it. My Chance offers a motivational turn. It is about resilience in the face of doubt, with lyrics like dem no fit take my chance serving as a mantra for anyone who has had to carve their own way through noise and negativity.

One of the most infectious tracks, Step Correct, brings amapiano energy and features Lato d Hype Guru and Tutu. It is a celebration of arrival and status. When we step outside, we step correct. All three artists bring strong performances with clean flows and swagger, keeping the energy intact from start to finish. Big Energy pushes things further. Teeblinks lay down sharp verses over log drums that bounce with urgency. He does not let up. The hunger in his delivery is loud, clear, and convincing.

The album also embraces a more reflective tone in tracks like International featuring Sculogi, where Teeblinks speaks success into existence. Sculogi handles the chorus with grace and soul, singing lines like mo ti di international o, ire, owo, awole wa o. It is a smooth prayer wrapped in melody. Teeblinks follows with verses filled with gratitude, hope, and belief in a better tomorrow.

Baby and So Fine provide the album’s softer moments. They are love songs that are not overly sentimental but sincere and warm. Teeblinks praises beauty with subtlety, showing that he is just as comfortable wooing as he is winning.

Spirituality shines through in My Ambition featuring Tee Q. Here, Teeblinks pays homage to role models like Martin Luther King Jr. while setting his own goals high. Tee Q’s chorus, I’ll praise God for life, anchors the track in humility. The message is simple. Success is earned, but grace plays a role too.

Since with Palsan and Rock of Ages continue this spiritual thread. In both, Teeblinks praises God in Yoruba, giving thanks for divine protection and blessings. On Rock of Ages, he slips into Igbo, Hausa, and other languages, acknowledging a universal God with multi-ethnic reverence.

In This Year, he slows the tempo and turns inward. With lines like adura ni mo n gba, mi o le shepe l’era mi (I’m praying, not cursing myself), he positions himself as both dreamer and realist. There is a quiet urgency here that reflects the pressure of wanting to do more and be more, especially for one’s family.

Repping brings us back to the Teeblinks who raps like a freestyle warrior, flowing over booming beats, repping Nigeria with boldness and pride. Mama is a heartfelt reflection on growth, gratitude, and the journey from being raised by a grandmother to wanting to give back.

As the album wraps with Jaiye Mi, Shalewa, and So Fine, Teeblinks leans into joy, flex, and flirtation. He has made it. Now he is celebrating. The Best of Me is more than a debut. It is a manifesto. Eshin Teeblinks does not just show who he is; he shows where he is going. Now based in the UK, he is pushing the boundaries of Afro hip hop and working to make himself a household name, determined to conquer the entertainment scene and bring more global attention to the sound rising from the UK underground. With spiritual depth, lyrical grit, and cultural fluency, he invites listeners into a world shaped by struggle, uplifted by faith, and defined by persistence. It is personal, powerful, and unmistakably his.
