Nigeria Advances Digital Security Agenda with New Advisory Appointments

In a continuing effort to bolster Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and secure its economic future, the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy is working with a newly assembled team of top-tier experts to develop the country’s National DevOps, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence Framework.
The initiative which was first highlighted in a report by Punch on March 10, and authored by Chuka Okafor, detailed the appointment of Ms. Ogunboyo Awolesi Adetoun as one of the key advisors driving this ambitious national project. Ms. Awolesi Ogunboyo, recognized across West Africa for her work in DevOps, cloud security, and AI systems, joins an elite panel of technologists and policy architects tasked with crafting a secure, scalable digital ecosystem for Nigeria.

Their mandate extends across critical sectors such as e-governance, health, education, and financial services, where integrating advanced DevOps practices and AI-enhanced cybersecurity is expected to transform operational standards and resilience. Alongside Ms. Ogunboyo, notable figures like Engr. Mamadou D. Bah, an award-winning cybersecurity strategist, and Dr. Henrietta K. Mensah, a respected voice in information architecture, bring decades of experience to the table.
Speaking on the project’s significance, Dr. Ibrahim Musa, Director of Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity at the Ministry, underscored the urgency of reinforcing national systems against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. “The framework we are developing goes beyond immediate protective measures. It establishes Nigeria as a forward-thinking leader in cybersecurity innovation and digital risk management,” Dr. Musa noted.

Beyond technical safeguards, the framework is also positioned to advance broader goals of digital sovereignty and workforce development, with a focus on empowering young Nigerians through specialized IT education and professional certification opportunities.

As work progresses, the Ministry’s collaboration with these industry leaders is expected to set a benchmark for how emerging economies can strategically combine governance, technology, and talent to secure their digital futures.
