A Declaration of Faith and Musical Finesse: Mr. D David’s I’ll Praise You

Gospel artist Mr. D David drops a new single, “I’ll Praise You,” through an electrifying declaration of faith and a cornerstone classic in the making from the accomplished Dammikeyz Productions, helmed by gifted music producer Damilola Alli Animashaun, stage name Dammikeyz. The song combines a poignant vocal delivery with intricate production to form a contemporary and respectful soundscape.

With the first note, you are drawn into a solemn state, only to be lifted into an amazing chorus where music and message intertwine. The vocals of Mr. D David issue with a natural, sun-kissed authenticity that hints at a honeyed vocal tone borne out of deliberation and lived experience. Every word has something worn into it, drawn out and delicately made to give up the commendation that it brought.
It’s deceptively simple songwriting, but the simplicity is one of the things that makes it work so well as a worship song. Choruses bloom from verses, deploying just enough variation to keep listeners engaged without overshadowing well-placed repetition for spiritual oomph. A strategically positioned bridge peels the ensemble away for suspense, only to deliver them back to the chorus with greater intensity.

On the other hand, Dammikeyz’s production and arrangements are heard behind the boards with deadly accuracy. The tone is set early, with warm pads and understated piano voicings that call to mind the filtered light pushing through church windows on a perfect early morning. Layers of acoustic work lightly atop a steady percussive foundation that plays catch and release without distracting. The bass, meanwhile, is the understated, providing depth, not dominance, and the percussion remains tight and airy. The only exception is Dammikeyz, who conspicuously holds back, allowing for every sound to touch air this is complemented by the mix and sonic quality. Vocals sound lush and flattering, the midrange is warm with dynamics that narrowly miss bottlenecked compression, and the pads and harmonies gracefully sprawl horizontally across the stereo field so accessibly without coming off as gimmicky.

Reverb is handled with restraint, which gives vocal clarity without much loss in depth.
A hymn that is a prayer of sorts, but one in which it should sing-along drilled into the listener to join in privately or with a collective chorus. The gradually building final chorus climaxes to a joyous sonic release of worship followed by a sweet end, gently placing you back in your place with refreshing silence.

And so, D David is not only dishing out music with I’ll Praise You, but serving a platter of soulful worship wrapped in sonic excellence. And where the drum beats cut through, so does Dammikeyz’s production; an immaculately produced track in an accessible way keeps the message clear as day, making this yet another example that with gospel, artistry and faith are never at odds.
