Crest Africa Award 2023: Sandra Eneremadu Honoured for Climate Tech Innovation

By Salami Adeyinka

Sandra Eneremadu has been honoured with the Crest Africa Award 2023 for Climate Tech Innovation.

This award recognises her leadership in building AI-powered platforms that translate complex environmental data into practical tools for agriculture and climate-focused programmes.

It also acknowledges her contribution to advancing digital infrastructure that supports smallholder farmers while strengthening climate accountability systems.

As a product manager and digital technology leader, Sandra specialises in transforming complex data ecosystems into user-centered products that deliver measurable value.

Her work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, agriculture, and climate technology, where she designs platforms that integrate satellite imagery, soil data, biomass measurements, and environmental datasets into structured, decision-ready systems.

During her time at AirSmat Inc from 2021 to 2023, Eneremadu led the development of the Carbon Intelligence and digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) platform. She defined the carbon data architecture, working closely with data scientists to shape models for carbon measurement and sequestration.

By integrating soil, biomass, NDVI satellite data, and environmental inputs, she helped establish a foundation for audit-ready reporting and participation in emerging carbon programmes.

She also designed farmer-facing dashboards that translated technical carbon metrics into accessible insights, enabling non-technical users to engage meaningfully with sustainability data.

Building on this foundation, Sandra expanded her role to lead the delivery of an AI-powered precision agriculture platform. Leveraging machine learning, IoT systems, drone imaging, and satellite data, she drove product strategy and execution to ensure AI outputs were practical and aligned with real-world farming conditions.

By 2023, these systems were being piloted across multiple farming communities, demonstrating early improvements in resource efficiency and operational decision-making.

Earlier in her career at Foodlocker Africa, Eneremadu contributed to the development of AI-driven diagnostics and monitoring tools designed for smallholder farmers. Her focus on converting agronomic data into actionable insights strengthened crop health management and reinforced farmer-centered product design, principles that continue to define her work.

Beyond product leadership, Sandra is committed to ecosystem development and mentorship. In 2022, she joined Kickoff Africa as a mentor, supporting teams in refining product thinking, technology design, and responsible scaling strategies.

She is also a co-founder of Women in Tech Nigeria, a community focused on expanding digital access and opportunities for women. Through collaborative training and community initiatives, the group has worked to increase women’s participation in technology and entrepreneurship.

The Crest Africa Award 2023 recognises Sandra Eneremadu as an emerging force in climate technology innovation, one whose work demonstrates how AI, data systems, and inclusive product design can drive meaningful environmental and social impact across Africa.
