Igwe Ikechukwu Nwofor: A New Dawn for Obioma
“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19
Ohio’s town in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State made history for new glory, life and experience as HRH (Igwe) Ikechukwu Martin Nwofor took over the mantle of kingship.
A king, according to popular parlance, is born, not made and unarguably, so it is. The emergence of HRH Igwe Ikechukwu Martin Nwofor as the king of Obioma on December 30 last year was obviously according to God’s plans.
The leadership of Igwe Nwofor will usher in a new dawn for the Obioma people, thereby bringing peace and happiness to the community.
HRH Nwofor was born on 2nd October 1949 into the Christian family of the late Pa Daniel Onyemaechi and the late Regina Ogbonne (Nne Okwukwe) Nwofor from Umuotugh Umunugwo, Obioma in Udi LGA of the state.
He attended Central School Ngwo between 1956 to 1958, then went to Onitsha, where he had his primary education at Raymond Anyaegbulam Memorial School and St. Christopher Primary School.
He proceeded to his secondary education at Colliery Comprehensive Technical Secondary School Ngwo, Enugu, where he obtained his School Certificate in 1971. He also attended Iheme Memorial Secondary Schol Arondizuogu, where he received his Higher School Certificate in 1972.
Shortly after completing higher School, Abakpa Nike Primary School appointed Igwe Nwofor as an auxiliary teacher. He then went to Lagos and secured a job as a clerical officer with F. Steiner & Co Limited, a member of the Ibru Organisation, in 1975.
He eventually rose to the position of office manager in 1978. While working, he enlisted with the Rapid Results College London as a tuition student and bagged an OND Certificate in Marketing in 1979. With these results and his proficiency in the office and field, he sought and got employment with the oil giant Total Nigeria Plc in 1980 as a Sales Representative.
He served meritoriously in different capacities at different locations, including Ibadan, Lagos, Owerri, Jos and Benin branches. He retired as an industrial Sales Manager in 1999.
Not tired of adventures, he went into his private business. He secured a significant contract from the then-Anambra/Imo River Basin Authority. He executed a Chain Link at Ndi-Awoke, Ohafia and other sites in Abia and Imo states, respectively.
As one of your subjects, I have the honour to extend to His Royal Highness Igwe Ikechukwu Martin Nwofor, the Ngwu III of Obioma, my sincere congratulations on the historic occasion of your coronation as the King of our dear kingdom, Obioma.
I am confident that the Kingdom of Obioma will prosper under your guidance. Accept, Your Royal Highness, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.
