HN Clothings Brings Structured Glamour with Timeless Echo

When HN Clothings’ Creative Director, Chikodinaka Perpetua Chima, unveiled her new collection titled Timeless Echo October 1st 2022 , it was clear from the very first look that this was a designer reaching for something more enduring than seasonal flair. In a fashion climate where trends come and go like fleeting whispers, Chima’s latest showing stood out for its discipline, attention to detail, and its insistence that glamour, when structured, can be both modern and timeless.

The collection opened with a fitted black gown, clean at first glance but alive with subtle detailing. From the sheer mesh panels at the side to the restrained sparkle running across the bodice, it was a quiet statement of intent. No unnecessary noise — just confidence in tailoring. Then came what would later emerge as the collection’s anchor: a jewel-toned emerald gown drenched in sequins. Its corset top was framed by sheer sleeves and sharply structured shoulders, while the skirt flowed in a way that shimmered with movement under the runway lights. This was glamour at its most considered — powerful, but never desperate to please.

What Timeless Echo delivered consistently was the reminder that embellishment, when handled well, does not drown a garment but strengthens it. Chima leaned into sequins, metallic accents, and stonework, yet always stopped short of overindulgence. Even the more dramatic gowns — like the floor-sweeping silver piece with a thigh-high slit — were balanced with controlled cuts that gave the wearer poise rather than excess.

Still, the collection had its soft spots. A few of the gowns blurred into each other, echoing the same design language in slightly different tones. It left the impression that the designer, in her quest for cohesion, occasionally leaned too far into repetition. But if that was the tradeoff for consistency, it was one worth making. The collection felt mature, grounded, and more interested in being remembered than in chasing shock value.

Beyond the clothes, Timeless Echo also hinted at Chima’s broader vision for HN Clothings: a brand intent on building garments that women will return to, season after season. In an industry often criticized for spectacle over substance, that kind of direction feels refreshing.

At the end of the show, one could not miss the energy in the room. Timeless Echo may not have broken every rule of design, but it delivered what Nigerian fashion needs more of — discipline, intentionality, and clothes that place the woman at the center, not the spectacle.
