Ottomans Will Complement Any Space in Your Home
When it’s time to redecorate your home or move into a new one, furniture shopping can be a hassle. Getting each room’s look together means choosing the right pieces of furniture to complement the space. You don’t want to clutter the area with random pieces that don’t look appealing next to each other. In fact, you want each piece to serve a practical purpose and look good while doing it.
That is where an ottoman can come in and add an extra visual layer and functionality. There are a few different types to choose from, so let’s cover them here.
Traditionally ottomans are used as footrests. The soft pillow-tops provide the perfect level of comfort for those household members who want a space dedicated to their feet. You can get separate ottomans, so each person has their own. Or, you can get a long bench or round ottoman, depending on the configuration of your sofa. These pieces are much more communal and give everyone a shared space to put their feet up. The round ones fit well with sectionals, allowing everyone’s feet equal access. The long bench style is just right for a traditional style sofa.
Storage ottomans have become very popular and can be used in most rooms. The hinged or removable lids open up to reveal a drum that can hold household and personal items. You can find ottomans for bedroom storage in just about any shape, size, or color you’re looking for. Store your shoes inside, or give your purses a place to rest when you’re not using them. Or keep your chargers, memory cards, USB drives, and other mobile device accessories in one place.
In the living or family room, they can be used to hold DVDs, magazines, books, or the kids’ toys. Do you frequently host game or movie nights at your home? If so, the storage drum is a great place to house your board games, cards, playing chips, dice, and other game night necessities. You can place blankets and throw pillows inside for those who like to get cozy while watching the film for movie night. Once they grab their blankets, you can place a tray with snacks on top of the ottoman for those hungry viewers.
Other than the dining room, you can seamlessly incorporate an ottoman for extra seating in any space that needs it. Place one at the end of the sofa, so all guests feel included in the conversation. Add one to your bedroom and create a seating area. Or place it in your walk-in closet for a complete dressing room.
You may not have considered adding one to the bathroom, but a small place to sit would be great when you’re cleaning and bandaging wounds. If it has storage, that’s an added benefit as you can keep rolls of toilet paper and other extra bathroom amenities tucked away. No matter what room you’re decorating, an ottoman can take the design to the next level.
