Ooni Knocks FG, Osun over Ife Roads

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi
Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has accused both federal and state governments of abandoning roads in the town.
According to the monarch the poor state of roads had made transportation of persons and goods within Ife very difficult.
Oba Ogunwusi spoke yesterday at the inauguration of a 700-metre road at the popular Odo-Ogbe market, Ile-Ife, facilitated by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Legislative Matters, Senator Babajide Omoworare.
A statement by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Moses Olafare, further quoted the royal father as saying: “I really do not know our offence in Ife to deserve the poor road network that surrounds us. It is not enough to call Ife the source. This city deserves to be treated as the true source of humanity that it is.
“It is so bad that the same government that has refused to fix our roads is the one denying us access to do what we can ourselves. All we hear is that it is a government road; so we have to keep waiting.”
He added that since the government couldn’t do it alone, the city would want some of its roads to be done privately by some concession arrangements.
