Diri Commends Security Operatives for Rescuing Abducted Expatriate

Gov. Douye Diri
The Bayelsa State Government has commended security agencies in the state for their swift response that led to the rescue of an expatriate staff of PAACHE Construction Limited.
The state governor, Douye Diri, gave the commendation while receiving the rescued expatriate, simply identified as Mr. Rony, Yenagoa, the state capital, on Saturday.
The victim was abducted by gunmen who stormed the company’s construction yard around the 4.5 kilometre-Igbedi Road project site on Saturday.
He was, however, rescued immediately by security personnel along the Ogboinbiri waterways.
Diri, represented by his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, hailed the service commanders and their men for showing true commitment to his administration’s security efforts.
He said: “Our gallant men of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian Navy and other sister agencies that were involved in the operation, none of them sustained fatal injury. But the kidnappers had a casualty.
“We want to commend our gallant officers and men who have been making a lot of sacrifices. I think this is one of the outcomes of the Operation Still Waters that was launched few weeks ago in the state.”
According to him, the security agents were on the trail of other abductors who escaped with serious gunshot wounds.
