APC Using EFCC to Bully Anambra Politicians, ADC Alleges

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Ralph Okey-Nwosu, has raised the alarm over activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, accusing it of coercing politicians in the state to join the party.
Nwosu alleged that many politicians in the state have been bullied by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to join the APC, just as many are currently being intimidated to move from their parties to the APC.
The national chairman of the party, who briefed journalists in Awka, the state capital, yesterday on the aegis of Allied Parties, a coalition of political parties supporting the emergence of ADC governorship candidate, Mr. Akachukwu Nwankpo, warned that the plans of the federal government in Anambra State as regards the governorship election will fail.
According to him, “I want to tell the people that APC is using the EFCC to bully politicians in Anambra State to join them, and so far, politicians in All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the People Democratic Party (PDP) have succumbed. We hear that they are still working on many to join them, but this ‘APC-by-force’ slogan can never stand in Anambra State, and their shenanigans must fail.
“President Muhammadu Buhari and APC should be concerned with the legacy that they will leave behind. APC’s legacy should matter to Buhari.
“Even if all the politicians in the state are bullied into joining the APC with charges of corruption and others, I can assure you that Anambra State will never be taken by APC. Anambra State is a different ball game all together.”
Nwosu expressed confidence that his party would win the governorship election in November 6, saying some of the political parties are not in the contest, as they never held any valid primary election.
He said: “There are some parties that are not in this election. INEC can put a party on the ballot if the chairman of parties or court gives such orders. That doesn’t change the undercurrents that PDP and APC did not hold valid primary elections.
“The APC, PDP and APGA will not win the election; I can assure you of that. They have no valid primary elections.
“Whether Buhari raised (Andy) Uba’s hand in the Villa or comes to Anambra State to do so, I can tell you that it will not happen. The system will flush out APC, and the people of Anambra will ultimately choose their own governor.
“The election in the state must be a popularity contest, not about how many governors you are coming to Anambra with or how many you have in your party. Anambra people will vote for their governor, and not other people from outside.”
