Edo Receives 76,712 Doses of COVID-19 Vaccines

The Edo State Government has took delivery of 76,712 doses of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines from the federal government with a plan to kick off the second phase of vaccination on Monday.

Health Educator, Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ESPHDA), Mrs. Irene Uabor disclosed this plan at a session with journalists in Benin City yesterday.

At the session with journalists, the health education disclosed that the vaccines include 65,016 doses of Moderna and 11,696 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

The health educator, who reassured the government’s commitment to contain the pandemic, said all is set for the commencement of the second phase COVID-19 vaccination rollout in the state.

The health educator noted that Edo “is ready to commence the distribution of the vaccines to different locations where they will be administered.”

Uabor added that the state government “has completed training for healthcare workers across all levels to effectively deliver the vaccines to Edo people.”

Uabor urged residents in the state “to take advantage of the opportunity of the second phase exercise to get inoculated against the deadly virus.

“We are calling on all Edo people, who have not been vaccinated to come out and get the vaccines as they are safe, free and effective,” the health educator said.
