New CP Promises to Eliminate Security Threats in Enugu
The new Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Abubakar Lawal, has promised to eliminate the security threat to the state.
Abubakar gave the assurance when he paid a familiarisation visit to the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House.
He also used the opportunity of the visit to assure Ugwuanyi of his determination to emplace and further improve on existing policing strategies towards curbing existing and emerging security challenges in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, yesterday in Enugu.
Ndukwe said that the governor warmly received the police boss and promised to provide the necessary support he required to excel.
The police spokesman said that the commissioner was accompanied in the visit by senior police officers, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Mr Fidelis Ogarabe.
The new commissioner had assumed office on August 10 as the state’s 25th Commissioner of Police.
Abubakar took over from Mr Mohammed Aliyu, who had been redeployed to Force CID, Abuja.
