Buhari Meets with INEC Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with the management of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by the Chairman, Dr Mahmoud Yakubu.

The meeting, held behind closed-doors at the conference hall of the First Lady, had in attendance the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; and INEC National Commissioners including Mr Festus Okoye and Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu.

Although details of the meeting was not made public, but it may not be unconnected with the recent burning of INEC offices in South-east and South-south geo-political zones by arsonists, as well as the electoral umpire’s preparation for the Anambra gubernatorial poll in November, this year.
