New Horizons Produces Africa’s First MCCT in Abuja

Information Technology firm, New Horizons Systems Solution has produced Africa’s first six Modern Classroom Certified Teachers (MCCT).

The teachers, numbering six emerged from two Nigerian schools namely- Great Height Academy and Start Rite Schools, both based in Abuja.

The two schools benefitted from New Horizons’ scholarship for teachers on MCCT training and international certification.

The programme is presently available to New Horizons partner schools in Nigeria and across the 80 countries where New Horizons operates globally.

MCCT idea was conceived by Europe and North America including Canada; following the reset by Covid-19 where innovation and new skills were necessary for learning to continue to take place uninterruptedly.

MCCT certification exam will certify that a candidate has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively facilitate learning by delivering content in a number of modalities, which can include face-to-face sessions, remote sessions, mixed learning environments and asynchronous sessions, using a variety of tools.

Benefits of the programme included: Mastering of Modern Classroom, increase effectiveness, Professionalism development, earning of Vendor-Neutral Global Certificate and improved collaboration between trainers and learners etc.

The entire teachers of the two schools selected went through comprehensive MCCT Certification training facilitated by certified New Horizons Instructor and which series of screening tests were organized afterwards.

Three teachers thus emerged from each of the schools after sitting for the certification exams.

Commenting, MD/CEO of New Horizons Nigeria, Mr. Tim Akano congratulated the management of the schools, adding that the schools are poised to achieve more outstanding feat in the education sector going forward.

In her remark, Head of School at Start-Rite, Mrs. Christiana Ekamen affirmed that the training was in tandem with school’s online policy and would help teachers to better manage the special technical challenges of the modern classroom post COVID-19.

On her part, Director of Great Height Academy, Rabi Namtari, recommended MCCT course material for online teaching.
