Tension as Gunmen Kidnap Construction Workers in Ondo

Palpable tension and anxiety have gripped residents of Ikaram and Akunnu axis of Akoko North West and Akoko North East Local Government Areas of Ondo State following the kidnap of three construction workers involved in the rehabilitation of Ikaram -Akunnu Akoko Road.
The local hunters, vigilante and police were yesterday combing the forests around the axis.
The Acting Police Area Commander for Ikare Akoko, Mr. Timibra Toikimo has called on the people of Akoko to join hands with police through information sharing and intelligence tips that could lead to the arrest of the criminals.
He commended the area PCRC for the assistance at various levels.
Early this month, one Mr. Ibrahim Olusa and his family members were abducted at Ajowa Akoko, by gunmen while returning to Abuja after Easter holiday.
While commenting on the incidents, the Alauga of Auga Akoko, Oba Samuel Agunloye, appealed to government to consider the need to increase presence of security men at Isowopo and the areas sharing boundaries with Edo and Kogi states.
