Oreyingbo wins CIISM’s strategic leadership award

Global audit and technology governance expert, Adegbola Oreyingbo, has been honoured with the Strategic Leadership Award by the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM) for the year 2022.

The award recognizes his outstanding contributions to regulatory transformation, digital governance, and audit-driven organizational development across multiple continents.

CIISM, in a statement announcing the award, said Oreyingbo was selected after a rigorous review of his professional accomplishments, leadership record, and impact on both private and development-focused institutions.

The Institute highlighted his work in leading enterprise-wide IT projects, strengthening regulatory oversight systems, and championing governance improvements in multinational organizations.

According to CIISM, Oreyingbo’s achievements at Citibank Canada and SPNS Consulting were central to the recognition. At Citibank, he played a key role in managing regulatory transformation audits, driving quality assurance processes, and enhancing compliance frameworks used in large-scale technology deployments. His work ensured greater alignment between project execution, risk mitigation, and regulatory expectations.

At SPNS Consulting, he led complex SME transformation initiatives, delivering internal control structures, audit readiness frameworks, and governance models that improved operational efficiency for clients in banking, fintech, and manufacturing sectors.

The Institute noted that Oreyingbo’s ability to integrate modern audit methodology with digital transformation programs has placed him among the leading voices shaping the future of governance and risk management in Africa and beyond. CIISM described him as “a strategist whose work continues to influence emerging best practices in operational resilience, technology governance, and enterprise risk.”

Responding to the award, Oreyingbo expressed appreciation to the Institute, stating that the honour reinforces the importance of developing data-driven leadership frameworks across African institutions.

He emphasized that strong governance structures, supported by analytics and modern audit tools, remain essential for economic competitiveness and long-term sustainability.

Industry stakeholders described the award as a well-deserved recognition for a professional whose career spans over 15 years across North America, Europe, and Africa, with consistent contributions to audit innovation, regulatory excellence, and strategic organizational transformation.
