Prayers Can’t Save Nigeria, Says Filmmaker Pascal Atuma

Canadian-Nigerian actor Pascal Atuma has turned to social media to contemplate the present economic challenges facing Nigerians, subtly criticising the government to prioritise the citizenry when making decisions concerning the nation’s welfare.

In his Instagram post, crafted to celebrate his birthday in Nigeria, Atuma drew attention to the deteriorating road infrastructure plagued by gully erosion in his community, Iberenta Ibere, situated in the Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State. He emphasised that the unaddressed road issues could potentially escalate, causing further harm.

This call to action also resonates with the plights of millions of Nigerians who have been affected by economic hardship inflicted on them by the fuel subsidy removal, the plummeting value of the naira, and the deep-seated corruption that has marred palliative programmes.

“This is the second consecutive year where I happened to be in Nigeria for my birthday, and we can all say for sure that Nigeria is in total shambles and disarray,” the TABIC Record Label Boscs noted. “Prayers cannot save Nigeria; we must wake up before the ship sinks completely! This is the worst Nigeria that I have witnessed since I was born! We have never degenerated to this level before, never! We need visionary leaders to turn things around and reverse our path. Long live Nigeria, and may God bless the children of Africa!”

He added, “I hope this hardship will serve as a wake-up call to the process and the persons we select for political positions in Nigeria moving forward. We must know that no country ever prayed for prosperity without work and that we need industries rather than religious stadiums.”
