President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate dismissal of former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdullahi Abdulrasheed Maina, from service.

Maina had been at large since 2013 when he was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N2 billion scam when he served as the Head of the Pension Task Force.

The embattled Maina, who prior to his suspension from service by the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan was Assistant Director in the civil service, was secretly reinstated by the head of service, promoted to the office of Director and redeployed to the Ministry of Interior.

However, the president, according to a statement by his chief spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, has queried the Head of Service, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, asking her to provide a full report on the circumstances surrounding Maina’s recall and consequent redeployment to the Ministry of Interior.

According to the statement, Oyo-Ita’s response should be submitted to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, before the end of work Monday.
