As part of activities marking the release of the Accountant General of Ekiti State, Mrs Yemisi Owolabi, and the Commissioner for Finance, Chief Toyin Ojo, from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the state government has declared
Thursday as half work day for civil servants.

According to an announcement aired on the state television and radio, the government said the civil servants are to resume work by 8am and close by 12 noon.

Governor Ayodele Fayose also urged the civil servants and politicians to converge on Fajuyi Park located in the heart of Ado Ekiti, the state capital, by 12 noon to celebrate the returnees.

The two top government officials had been in the custody of the EFCC for the past two weeks. They were arrested in Abuja by the operatives of the anti-graft agency over the way the state spent the bailouts released to the state by the federal government.

Fayose said he decided to declare the half work day for the workers to give them the opportunity of rejoicing with the Accountant General who is a civil servant and Permanent Secretary in the state civil service.
