About Dapo Abiodun’s New Dream

Though he has contested twice in his constituency, Ijebu-East Senatorial District election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress,  APC, Dapo Abiodun, has failed to achieve his dream of becoming a senator, a dream he has nursed  for two decades.

As 2019 draws near,  the top socialite and chairman of  First Power Limited,  is now planning to take a shot at the governorship position in Ogun State, Spyglass gathered.

Already, his gubernatorial ambition is no more a secret  to many in the state.  Unlike before,  many believe that  the influential businessman  and close friend of the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosu, has a better   chance , especially given his political experience,  which he had built over the years.

It was also gathered that the support he enjoys from  the incumbent  governor coupled with his  financial muscle  are  some of the things that will work for him.

First,  he had won a senatorial seat under the defunct UNCP in 1996, but his  victory was truncated when the then Head of State, Gen. Sanni Abacha, died and all political parties were abolished by Gen. Abubakar Abdulsalami.

His plan  was again  truncated in 2015  as Kashamu Buruji of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was declared the winner.

Following that electoral loss, the businessman seemed to have found solace in his business. But as fate would have it, all this may be history now, as the top socialite, who is also chairman, OMS-Heyden Exploration and Production Limited, has got back his groove set to  shame his detractors.
