Kogi CP Advocates Intelligence Sharing to Tackle Insecurity

In a bid to strengthen security of lives and property and to foster peaceful coexistence in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, the Commissioner of Police, Command CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has advocated intelligence sharing to fight the hydra-headed security challenges in the local government area.
He, however, convened a high-level meeting with key stakeholders to address pressing security concerns and enhance community Policing efforts.
This was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relation of Mr. William Ayah, copy of which was made to the journalists in Lokoja, yesterday.
The CP emphasised the importance of collaboration in tackling insecurity, stressing intelligence-sharing between residents and security agencies.
He pointed out that law enforcement alone could not ensure safety without community support, calling for the effective collaboration between the police and their host community.
He further assured them of involving immigration agencies to monitor and regulate movement as well as proper documentation that would enhance accountability and reduce security threats within the Local Government.
The meeting also addressed land ownership rights, the role of traditional institutions, and the need for structured conflict resolution.
The CP urged all parties to respect existing leadership structures and seek peaceful resolutions through dialogue.
Reaffirming the Police unwavering commitment to professionalism and human rights, he warned against lawlessness, stating that security sgencies were fully prepared to take action against any individual or group threatening the peace in the area.
He, therefore, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.
