The Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation (AACCF) and HerVest have empowered about 130 women farmers in Ijebu, Ogun State, through training and grants.

The empowerment was part of activities to mark International Women’s Day 2024 by the organisation and aimed at advancing gender equality in agriculture.

Speaking at the event held recently, the Ogun State First Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, said the theme, “Empowering Women in Agriculture Through Technology,” resonates deeply with her.

According to her, “My recent attendance and participation at the Renewed Hope Initiative program with Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu where I emphasized the importance of agri-finance for women.

“In Nigeria, women make up 65 percent of farmers, yet many of them are poor, smallholder farmers in need of empowerment to become more productive. I commend Mrs. Adeola Azeez, the founder of AACCF, for recognizing this need and working tirelessly to meet it among women in our communities.”

Meanwhile, Mrs. Azeez emphasized the collective power of collaboration and innovation in promoting inclusivity, sustainability, and success in the agricultural industry.
