Yahaya Appoints Ibrahim Isa of BBC as DG Gombe State Media Corporation

The Gombe State Governor, Mr. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Isa of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as the Director-General of the Gombe State Media Corporation (GMC).

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the governor’s approval yesterday, said that Isa’s appointment, which takes immediate effect, was based on his outstanding personal qualities and extensive experience in the field.

Isa brings over two decades of journalism expertise to his new role, having excelled as a reporter, producer, newsreader, TV host and media manager.

With his track record, Isa is expected to bring a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the Gombe State Media Corporation (GMC) to foster a dynamic and vibrant media environment.

Governor Yahaya expressed confidence that Isa’s leadership would contribute to GMC’s growth and its ability to serve the public better with accurate and timely information.

Yahaya also approved with immediate effect the elevation of Dr. Ishiyaku Babayo Mohammed from the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Development Partners Coordination to Special Adviser on the same portfolio.

The decision, which was conveyed by the SSG, was grounded in Mohammed’s outstanding achievements, exceptional commitment and effectiveness demonstrated within the short period since he was first appointed SSA.

The governor expressed confidence that his elevation to the position of special adviser would further enhance the state’s partnership drive and bolster its efforts in attracting resources and support from various development entities to contribute to the overall progress and well-being of Gombe State.
