• Distribute educational kits to enrollees

The Katsina State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has returned another batch of 1,395 out-of-school children to school in the state.
The Special Adviser to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Girl-child Education, Jamila Abdu-Mani, disclosed this Wednesday while distributing educational materials to the enrollees in Rimi Local Government Area of the state.
The back-to-school kits distributed to the pupils included uniforms,writing materials, bags and shoes to ensure the retention and completion of schools by the beneficiaries.
Abdu-Mani explained that the enrollment of the 1,395 out-out-of-school children was an initiative of the state’s Department of Girl child Education and Child Development in collaboration with UNICEF and other stakeholders.
She said the state government was committed to ensuring that children, especially girls, have access to quality and efficient education and the needed support to actualise their potential.
“We need to ensure that our girls have access to quality education and they are given the support they need to achieve their full potentials,” she said.
Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal-Jobe, applauded UNICEF for working with the state government to uplift the standard of education, particularly elementary education in the state.
While describing education as a cornerstone for any development, Lawal-Jobe assured the UN agency that the state government would continue to give ultimate priority to the education sector.
He called on community leaders, parents and non-governmental organisations to work with the government in improving girl-child education in the state.
