The Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has announced plans to incorporate Turkey into its list of pilgrimage destinations for the upcoming year.

The Executive Secretary, Rev. Yakubu Pam, revealed this development during the third Annual General Staff Retreat held in Jos, Plateau State, where he highlighted that a team from the commission had already visited Turkey to explore Christian holy sites in the Middle-east nation.

According to him, despite the challenges, the commission under his leadership has successfully executed six pilgrimages within three years of being in the saddle.

He said: “However, it was at the peak of the pandemic that the commission was able to discover Jordan as a new pilgrimage destination, which later culminated in the actualisation of our maiden pilgrimage to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2021.”

Pam commended the sacrificial efforts of the entire NCPC staff over the years, adding that their commitment to work and their selfless service to the commission were uncommon, while professional conduct during pilgrimage operations was worthy of emulation.

The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, represented by his deputy, underscored the importance of innovative leadership in effecting positive change and achieving collective objectives.

Emphasising the significance of the retreat in addressing challenges and advancing Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria, the governor urged NCPC staff to embrace transformational leadership.

Muftwang commended Rev Pam, the chief facilitator of the retreat, for his unwavering dedication to staff development, adding that his administration attaches great importance to the spiritual lives of citizens.

Notable speakers at the retreat included Professor Danny McCain, who encouraged participants to implement acquired knowledge and become agents of transformation in their respective roles. Retired Gen. John Temlong also stressed the importance of integrity, accountability, and servant leadership in fostering organisational success.
