15,000 Youths to Graduate from FG’s TVET Maximisation Programme

Fifteen thousand Nigerian youths are set to graduate from the first phase of the TVET maximisation initiative, a technical and vocational skills acquisition programme funded by the federal government to equip youths with the skills necessary to make them economically independent.

James Abimbola, the Director of the technical and vocational skills training department at the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), in a statement explained that the programme began in August and that the participants were drawn across seven states of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria including; Lagos (3,000), Enugu (2,000), Gombe (2,000), Edo (2,000), Nasarawa (2,000), Ogun (2,000), and Kaduna (2,000). 

The 15,000 participants were trained in their areas of interest, including tailoring/fashion design, beauty care and cosmetology, graphic design, solar installation, and ICT.

The graduation and closing ceremony, which kicked off across the ITF area offices in each of the seven states on December 4, will conclude on December 13.

Abimbola noted that a select number of successful and top-performing participants will receive their certificates and starter packs during the programmes.
