DKK Partners LIRS to Foster Tax Education in Lagos Secondary School

 DKK Nigeria in partnership with Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Friday, unveiled Tax Trybe, an initiative which marks the commencement of tax club activities  aimed at nurturing a profound understanding of taxation among secondary school students and shaping them into being future tax ambassadors.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of Corporate Communications , Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Mrs. Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude explained that 

Tax Trybe has the objective of fostering   knowledge in secondary schools students and that it aligns with its commitment to ensuring  accessibility to tax education. 

“This collaboration with DKK Nigeria drives a culture that instills a sense of responsibility and an understanding of taxation from an early age. With the initiative, we aim to build a tax-literate and informed community, where youths are empowered to become financially literate and socially responsible citizens, who will actively contribute to the socio-economic growth of the state and the country as a whole,”she stated, adding that the pilot phase involves collaboration with 20 schools, evenly distributed between districts two  and four. 

She said the organisation recognises the pivotal role teachers play in shaping young minds, adding that Tax Trybe will belz introducing a guide crafted to equip them with the necessary tools and materials to simplify the complexities of tax education, fostering effective teaching and inspiring young minds to become responsible citizens who comprehend the significance of their tax contributions.

“Acknowledging the potential perception of taxation as a complex and dull subject, Tax Trybe is committed to introducing innovative and engaging approaches to make learning both enjoyable and comprehensible, Amasa-Oyelude stated, while expressing hope that more schools will join the growing Tax Trybe movement.

 Attendees at the programme gained insights into the importance of tax education and the overarching objective of establishing tax clubs in schools.
