Due to concerns, eyes have been fixated on individuals like Senator Opeyemi Bamidele who seem to have what it takes to make a difference.
Without mincing words, Senator Bamidele is one of the most powerful members of the 10th Senate. Representing Ekiti Central senatorial district, Bamidele is the House’s Majority Leader. A calm man with robust experience in administration and management, he is on the list of Senators to Watch Out for.
The focus on Bamidele revolves around many things, chief among them being his position as a principal officer and his career portfolio. Knowing that the latter is the primary source for the former, it has come under more scrutiny in the months since the 10th Senate was inaugurated.
In truth, Bamidele’s foundation is not something that the majority of his peers can compare to. The man has been around since 1992 when he contested for the Federal House of Representatives. Although he lost, that experience paved the way for him to meet up with the standards of President Bola Tinubu who was Lagos state governor at the time.
Bamidele served as Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Political and Intergovernmental Relations back then. He went on to become Lagos Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Development (2003 to 2007), Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy (2007 to 2011), and a member of the House of Representatives (2011 to 2015).
Clearly, Senator Bamidele has been around. Since assuming the post of Ekiti Central senator in 2019, he has shown dedication and resilience, but a calm attitude and excellent leadership skills. It thus did not come as a surprise that he emerged as the Majority Leader for the 10th Senate.
With the eyes of the general public on him, Bamidele is prepared to awe Nigerians. His experience, resoluteness, and team leadership capabilities indicate he is likely to appear as one of the best-performing members of the 10th Senate.
