Defence Chief Reaffirms Loyalty of Armed Forces to Constitutional Democracy

Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, yesterday, reaffirmed the unalloyed loyalty of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to constitutional democracy.

Musa made the assertion in a message to the armed forces on the occasion of the Muslim Eid-El-Maulud celebration.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, also felicitated with Nigerians and personnel of the Nigeria Police on the Muslim festival.

Musa said members of the armed forces would remain committed to ensuring peace and stability of the country.

A statement signed by Director, Defence Information (DDI), Brig-Gen. Tukur Gusau, said, “As a very important segment of the society, the AFN, we will continue to commit ourselves towards ensuring peace and stability in our country. It is our prayer that through the commitment of all Nigerians the Almighty God will see us through our daunting security challenges.

“The CDS uses this opportunity to once again, on behalf of members of the AFN, affirm our unalloyed loyalty to the constitutional democracy under His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President/Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The statement also said, “The Chief of Defence Staff heartily greets members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria as we celebrate Eid-El-Maulud.

“It is an opportunity to thank the Almighty Allah for His blessings, protection and guidance, especially as He continues to protect us through these difficult and challenging times.”

A statement issued by Force Headquarters quoted the IGP as saying, in his message to the Muslim faithful, “This auspicious occasion reminds us of the virtues of love, compassion, and unity that the Holy Prophet Muhammad exemplified throughout his life. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and rededication to the principles of peace and harmony.”

The IGP charged the Muslim faithful to use the occasion to preach and promote peace, unity, and tolerance within the society, and be beacons of hope and understanding, fostering goodwill among Nigerians.

“May this Eid bring blessings, joy, and prosperity to our homes, and may our nation continue to thrive in peace and unity,” the police statement said.
