CSR-in-Action, IBWU Foundation Unveil Cleaner Communities Initiative

A non -profit organisation, CSR-in-Action has partnered with a Canada based foundation, “It-Begins-With-U” (IBWU) to birth a new project targeting cleaner and attitudinal change in Nigerian communities.

According to them, the project aims to drive cleaner neighbourhoods by encouraging individual acts of humanity.

The initiative is expected to run for 12 months during which participants will embark on and complete community cleaning exercises of choice, after which they will upload a before and after videos of two minutes or less to stand a chance of winning N100,000 per month.

Speaking further on the initiative, Chief Executive, CSR-in-Action, Bekeme Masade-Olowola explained that the project aligned with goal 6 of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which is centered on sanitation, green environment and healthy living for longevity.

He said, “Goal 6 has particularly been adopted by Nigeria for national development. We chose to partner with IBWU because we share the common vision that leadership is driven by citizens and CSR-in-Action is constantly pursuing innovative ways of positively influencing the values of the wider grassroots community in Nigeria. As a sustainability consulting and advocacy company, we are keen on enhancing sustainable values and habits that contribute to the development of the country.”

On his part, Board Chair of IBWU, Mr. Michael Emeka Dibua added that the initiative seeks to return cleaner habits in communities.

He said, “ The Cleaner Community Initiative is determined to rid communities throughout Nigeria of filth, by pushing for the return of simple, cleaner habits as well as the removal and disposal of waste, especially as we are aware of the effect that dirt and pollution has on our lives, climate, health, wellbeing and so much more.”
