Zulum to Fast Track  Completion of Borno Teaching Hospital

In order to fast track the completion of ongoing work on the Borno State University Teaching Hospital, Governor Babagana Zulum yesterday visited the hospital site to assess the level of work.
The state university work which began in November last year, the governor said, was to enable the state-owned university to start courses in Medicine and other allied subjects.

Beside being used for academic activities, the governor explained that the hospital would provide affordable and quality healthcare services to the people of Borno in line with the administration’s health development programmes.

The governor commended the contractors for making quality work within considerable time.
“I am very impressed with the level and quality of work here, your performance is indeed wonderful. We will ensure required funds are released for the other components to start immediately. I want all the work to progress at the same phase.

“While the construction work is ongoing, we shall fast track the procurement of the medical facilities and insha Allah we hope to commission the hospital late next year,” Zulum said.

Conducting the governor round, the overseeing Engineer, Engr. Usman Tijjani Monguno, explained that, General Out-patient Department (GOPD) which renders primary medical care to patients seen, investigated, treated and those requiring specialist care referred to specialist consultant clinical is at 80 per cent completion level.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire performed the foundation stone laying of the hospital located at Maiduguri-Damaturu Road near the main university campus.
